Apple Bottom  

Free Crochet Pattern

Materials: 

Worsted weight/ Size 4 yarn

Apple Body Colors- Red Heart: Soft ~ Wine and Guacamole

Stem Color- Lion Brand: Vanna's Choice ~Barley

Leaf Color- Lion Brand: Vanna's Choice ~Oatmeal

4.00 mm Crochet Hook

12 mm Safety Eyes

Poly-fil stuffing 

Embroidery Floss - Pink and White 

Yarn Needle

Long Doll Needle (Please be careful these needles are very sharp)

Stitch Markers

Terms:

mr - magic ring

slp - slip stitch

ch - chain

st - stitch

rnd - round

sc - single crochet 

hdc - half double crochet

inc - increase (2sc in the same stitch)

invdec - invisible decrease

Notes:

Invisible decrease - put hook through the front loop of two single crochet stitches, yarn over and pull up loop (two loops on hook) yarn over and pull through two loops. 

• This pattern is worked from the top down in a continuous round.
• Use a stitch marker to mark the beginning of the rounds.
• The Booty Crew can be made in any size yarn. So have fun playing with different yarn and hook sizes. 
• At the end of making the body, I use the same tail to do all the shaping. Sometimes it can be difficult working with a tail that long so you can always use scrap pieces of yarn. Just make sure everything is secured tightly so the apple keeps its shape when you are finished.

Body for Apple Bottom:

Apple color 

Rnd1: 6 sc in MR. (6)

Rnd2: (inc), repeat 6 times. (12)

Rnd3: (inc, 1 sc) repeat 6 times. (18)

Rnd4: (inc, 2 sc) repeat 6 times. (24)

Rnd5: (inc, 3 sc) repeat 6 times. (30)

Rnd6 - 12: 1 sc in every st around. (30) 

Rnd13: (invdec, 3 sc) repeat 6 times. (24)

Place eyes between rounds 8 and 9, 5-6 st apart 

Rnd14: invdec, repeat 12 times (12)

Begin stuffing

Rnd15: invdec, repeat 6 times (6)

Fasten off. Leave a long tail (about 25-30 in.) for closing hole, creating indent, and shaping booty. Close hole by sewing into front loops only with tail. Pull tight. Put a stitch marker at Rnd9 on back center of Apple so you can find the Rnd after making the indent. 

Creating Indent: Using the same tail and a doll needle. Send the needle up through the middle to Rnd1. Pull tightly. Then send the needle back down the middle to Rnd15. Pull tightly to create indent. Don’t fasten off.  

Making the booty: Using the same tail. Insert yarn needle through center indent at Rnd15 and bring out center back at Rnd9. Make line with the yarn, insert needle back in the indent at Rnd15. Bring needle through Rnd9 pull yarn tail tightly. Repeat for more definition. Knot and fasten off. Weave tail in.  

Stem:

Stem color 

Ch. 6, Sc in 2nd chain from hook, 1 slp in the next 4 ch spaces. (1sc, 4 slp)

Fasten off and leave tail for sewing. Sew to the top of Apple bottom inside of the indent. Weave tail in.

Leaf:

Leaf color 

Ch. 4, 1Sc in 2nd chain from hook, 1 sc in next ch space, (1 hdc, ch 2, slp in 2nd chain from hook, hdc) in last ch space. 

Now working on the other side of ch, 1 sc in next ch space, 1 sc in next ch space. slp to top of the first sc. (4sc, 2hdc, 1slp, 1ch)

Fasten off and leave tail for sewing. Sew leaf to the bottom of the stem in the indent of Apple Bottom. Weave tail in.

Final Touches for Apple Bottom:

Use pink embroidery thread to add cheeks next to the eyes. Add a little shine mark to the front of Apple Bottom with white embroidery thread.
